Nestled at the foot of the South Downs, Chequers Hotel provides a quiet haven with stunning views over Arun Wild Brooks and the South Downs beyond providing the perfect retreat from which to explore the local countryside.

Well connected by road and rail (5 min walk to Pulborough station) the hotel is within easy reach of Parham House, Goodwood Racecourse, Arundel Castle (photo above), Fishbourne Roman Palace, Petworth House in the wonderful village of Petworth, Pulborough Brooks RSPB as well as some of Britains best beachesaward winning vineyards and country persuits!

A - Arundel & Amberley Castles

B - Beaches, Bignor Roman Villa and Breakfast: East & West Witterings (offering surfing an kite surfing) and Littlehampton Beach (great for kids) and Harbour (offering deep sea fishing trips), Bignor Roman Villa is a great historic day out for all the family... & Breakfast: our breakfast is pretty legendary (see our reviews page)! Enjoy tucking in to a choice of hearty cooked options and of course our selection of Chequers Home Made Breakfast pots!

C - Cycling (some of England's finest cyclosportives take place in the area)

D - Devils Dyke (spectacular vantage point on the South Downs, with views out to the Isle of Wight and a reference point in folklore)

E - English Tea (tuck into a traditional cream tea in our garden - perhaps add a sparkle with a bottle of local, yet world class English sparkling wine)

F - Festivals, Fairs and Fishbourne Roman Palace (Goodwood legendary 'Festival of Speed' & 'Goodwood Revival' and Pulborough Harvest Fair). Not to mention the famous Fishbourne Roman Palace (a great historic day out for the family).

N - National Park, South Downs (covering an area of over 1600km2, recognised as an area of outstanding beauty, steeped in history and English culture)

P - Pulborough Brooks RSPB (open all year and boasting wetlands, woodland and heathland, also an annual duck race charity event! Listen out for the nightingales
